Steven Blessington, PA-C, serves as Medical Director and Associate Faculty for the ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Physician Associate Program. He completed his Physician Associate training at Northeastern University, earning a master’s degree in Health Professions in 1996, and has practiced in Maine for more than three decades.

His clinical career includes extensive experience in emergency medicine followed by a transition to hospital medicine, providing a broad and practical perspective that informs both patient care and medical education. Actively involved in PA education since 2008, he began teaching pharmacology as adjunct faculty within the ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ PA Program before assuming his current full-time faculty and Medical Director roles. His teaching emphasizes safe, evidence-based pharmacologic decision-making and its thoughtful application in real-world clinical practice.

As Medical Director, Mr. Blessington is committed to safeguarding the quality and integrity of ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s Physician Associate education while fostering student success, professional development, and ethical clinical practice.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, he was appointed in 2022 by Governor Janet Mills to serve on the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine. He is a former President and current Delegate of the Maine Association of Physician Assistants (MEAPA) and played a central role in advancing Optimal Team Practice legislation in Maine. He also serves as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases, consulting with law firms throughout the Northeast.
