³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s College of Dental Medicine is Maine’s only dental school, the only dental school in northern New England, and a national leader in dentistry education. Shortly after inaugurating the first class of 64 students in August 2013, the College dedicated its new Oral Health Center on ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s Portland Campus for the Health Sciences.
³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s D.M.D. degree program offers a blend of time-tested methods and new innovations in dental medicine education. Our students are treated as members of the profession from the moment they arrive on campus and are given opportunities to make real impacts in the lives of patients, in both urban and rural settings, who receive dental services through them. Interprofessional Team-Based Learning

As a D.M.D. student at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, you will be an integral part of our comprehensive health professionals university, where interprofessional learning is central to our approach. You’ll study alongside students from other programs, including the Osteopathic Medicine and Physician Assistant programs, gaining the skills to collaborate in today’s team-based care. When health professional students from diverse disciplines learn about, with, and from each other, they’re prepared to lead in the evolving healthcare workforce and, more importantly, to support better patient outcomes.

Doctor of Dental Medicine
The Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) program at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ is a national leader in educating student dentists with career-ready skills. We provide extensive hands-on experience, close student support, and team-based learning — all within modern facilities and a welcoming community.
Track for International Dentists
The Advanced Standing Track for International Dentists is a 29-month program for dentists who completed their dental education outside of the U.S. This program incorporates the latest in dental practice, equipment, and technology as well as principles in public health and practice management.
Oral Health Center
The ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Oral Health Center is the clinical education center for the ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s College of Dental Medicine. As a dental medicine or dental hygiene student at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, you provide comprehensive oral health care for patients of all ages under the supervision of licensed dentists and hygienists. Our services include cleanings, checkups, fillings/restorations, root canals, crowns, veneers, extractions, X-rays, partial dentures, dentures, bridges, implants, and an urgent care walk-in clinic.
The College of Dental Medicine provides approximately 16,000-18,000 patient visits per year in the Oral Health Center and an additional 12,000-14,000 visits per year in the community-based network.
